Tim Gill studied in Paris, at Cambridge University and Banff, where he was awarded first prize in the Banff Concerto Competition.

His Purcell Room debut, as part of the Park Lane Group series in 1989 was greeted with critical acclaim and he was invited to give the Priaulx Rainier recital the following year.

Since then, he has combined his solo commitments, which include concerts at The Wigmore Hall and two recordings on the Guild label, with a busy chamber music and orchestral career. He has been invited to play principal 'cello with the BBC and London Symphony orchestras and works regularly with The London Sinfonietta, The Nash Ensemble and Capricorn.
