David Adams - Violin

David Adams began playing the violin at the age of 5 studying with his father, Principal viola of the Halle Orchestra. He continued his studies at Chetham's School of Music, with Malcolm Layfield and subsequently at the Eastman School of Music, under Zvi Zeitlin. He returned to America in 1995 to study with Daniel Phillips in New York, where he completed his MA in 1997 and then attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook studying both violin and viola with Mitchell Stern and Misha Amory (viola).

As a soloist David has performed concertos on the violin and viola including a performance of the Beethoven Violin concerto in New York. As a member of the Ovid Ensemble and the Goldberg Ensemble he has performed at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall, Snape Maltings Concert Hall and broadcast for BBC Radio 3. In January 1999 and 2000 David participated in the Park Lane Group Series at the Purcell Room and both performances were selected to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Recent engagements included a Wigmore Hall debut with the Ovid Ensemble, concerts with the Raphael Ensemble and concerts and broadcasts with Psappha. David participated in the 1999 International Musicians Seminar Autumn Tour culminating in a Wigmore Hall concert and a Radio 3 broadcast. Future appearances include a residency at the Presteigne Festival with the Ovid Ensemble.
